Government Launches First Digital ID
The UK government has introduced the first digital ID as part of its plan to digitalize various forms of identification.
According to the new rules, individuals starting a new job in the UK will be required to hold a digital ID.
- Digital ID cards, also known as "Britcards," are expected to be rolled out after a full consultation.
- The proposal aims to tackle illegal immigration and will be part of each citizen's right to live and work in the UK.
The first digital IDs are digital veteran cards, available for ex-members of the armed services.
These digital veteran ID cards were presented at an event at the Tower of London, where Beefeaters showcased their new IDs.
