Council slammed for non-provision of lollipop warden in Castleisland | RadioKerry.ie

Council Criticized for Not Providing Lollipop Warden

Independent Councillor Charlie Farrelly has tabled a motion requesting a school traffic warden on College Road, Castleisland during school times.

The area, which has three schools, becomes a bottleneck and is dangerous for crossing, according to Cllr Farrelly.

The council's road safety officer has already visited the area and observed the dangers incurred during school times.

In response, the council stated that there is no provision in the current budget to appoint a school warden for College Road, but will assess the location and consider it for the next budget.

Cllr Farrelly finds this answer unacceptable, given the road safety officer's firsthand observation of the issues.

Author's summary: Council rejects request for school traffic warden due to budget constraints.
