Peers Warn of Lack of Vision for New Towns Programme
The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) needs to improve its efforts to explain the purpose and benefits of plans for new towns, according to a report by the House of Lords Built Environment Committee.
The report states that the government
"urgently needs a clear, engaging vision"to explain the purpose and goals of the new towns programme, which could deliver over 300,000 houses and flats in the coming decades.
- The New Towns Taskforce has published a shortlist of 12 locations in England recommended for new town settlements of 10,000 homes or more.
