A £6 million proposal to redevelop the William Bird Pavilion in St Albans is moving forward.
The district council is set to push forward the redevelopment of the sports pavilion site at Toulmin Drive in New Greens, providing much-needed community infrastructure.
Since the closure of the William Bird Pavilion three years ago, it has been a "pressing issue" for the community and sports teams.
“It has been a source of much regret to see the dilapidated state of the old pavilion at Toulmin Drive,”
said Batchwood resident and campaigner, and Lib Dem candidate Chris Lewis.
Lib Dem councillors have campaigned for the restoration of community facilities, and the district council is now prioritising the William Bird Pavilion as a flagship project.
