The Gering Police Department and multiple other agencies continue to investigate skeletal remains located on the Scotts Bluff National Monument property.
Chance Englebert, a Wyoming man, went missing on July 6, 2019. The investigation into his disappearance has been active and ongoing since it was originally reported.
The Scotts Bluff County Attorney’s Office said Thursday that Chance Englebert’s family confirmed the belongings found during searches were his.
The Douglas County Coroner’s Office in Omaha is assisting to facilitate the forensic examination of dental records, DNA samples, and other scientific examinations of the skeletal remains.
A Forensic Pathologist and scientists from the University of Nebraska-Omaha will also be involved in the examination.
No official statement has been made on the confirmation of the skeletal remains belonging to Chance Englebert.
It is an ongoing investigation with the help of multiple agencies.
