AGF Clarifies Presidential Pardon List Under Review
The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, stated that no inmate pardoned by President Bola Tinubu has been released from prison.
The AGF's clarification came after criticism over the inclusion of Maryam Sanda, a convicted husband killer, in the list of persons granted clemency by the President.
Maryam Sanda was sentenced to death by hanging in 2020 for stabbing her husband to death after an argument in Abuja.
A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, asked the Federal Government to withdraw the list of pardoned inmates.
