DOT Secretary Sean Duffy warned that airspace could close soon if air traffic controllers continue to call out without pay.
The Federal Aviation Administration reported that on October 31, 80% of New York area staff called out.
“So, if you bring us to a week from today, Democrats, you will see mass chaos,” Duffy said. “You will see mass flight delays. You’ll see mass cancellations, and you may see us close certain parts of the airspace, because we just cannot manage it, because we don’t have the air traffic controllers.
Duffy blamed the Democrats for the potential risk to airspace traffic as the government shutdown continues.
