State Rep. Justin Pearson Announces Run for Congress
Justin Pearson, a 30-year-old state representative, has announced his candidacy for Congress, challenging veteran Democrat Steve Cohen.
He emphasized his humble beginnings, stating,
“I am not here because I come from privilege. I want you to believe not just in me, but believe in us.”
In 2023, Pearson, along with state Rep. Gloria Johnson, protested gun violence on the state House floor, earning him recognition as one of the Tennessee Three. This protest followed a tragic shooting at a school in Nashville that left six people dead.
