UNISON Celebrates Victory Against Outsourcing
UNISON General Secretary Christina McAnea welcomed members from the south west to celebrate a major victory against outsourcing.
Members from Dorset, working across three NHS trusts, prevented the introduction of a subco that would have affected 1,700 facilities staff, including their terms and conditions, pensions, and employment.
“Every time we’ve seen a subco, we’ve launched a campaign against it – and this was no different,”
said Christina McAnea, who has led national opposition to subcos since 2017. This win is a significant achievement for porters, caterers, housekeepers, and other NHS facilities staff.

“Dorset’s victory is a brilliant example of how organising works”.
