JLR Cyberattack: The Most Costly in UK History

The cyberattack on Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is the most economically damaging event in UK history, with a cost of £1.9 billion.

The attack, which began in late August, forced the car giant to halt global operations for five weeks, primarily due to the shutdown of manufacturing output at JLR's three major UK plants.

The Cyber Monitoring Centre (CMC) expects JLR to return to full pre-attack production levels by January 2026.

The estimated cost of the attack ranges between £1.6bn and £2.1bn, surpassing previous major incidents.

In comparison, the retail hacks that hit Marks & Spencer and others earlier this year were estimated to cost less than £500 million.

Author's summary: JLR cyberattack costs £1.9 billion.
