Poultry Water Quality and Biofilm Formation

Poultry growers should check their water lines regularly, as water quality can impact microbial populations and lead to biofilm buildup.

A new study found that biofilm, a thin layer of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats, can harbor pathogenic bacteria like Salmonella, regardless of water quality.

“If you have good water quality, that doesn’t mean you don’t want to understand what’s in your water lines and in the biofilm,”
