Natalie Grabow, an 80-year-old grandmother, has become the oldest woman to finish the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii.
Just 20 years ago, Grabow was learning to swim at the age of 59, in order to participate in a triathlon. She overcame this hurdle and has now won her age group at the competition.
“It was a big hurdle I had to overcome,” Grabow told NPR via email, “in order to do a triathlon.”
Grabow is being hailed as an inspiration after completing the 2025 Ironman World Championship Women's Race on Oct. 11, 2025, in Kailua Kona, Hawaii.
