Rescue Efforts in Alaska Floods

Coast Guard and National Guard crews have rescued 51 people from Alaska floods.

Roughly 90 members of Alaska Army and Air National Guard and Coast Guard units have responded to remote towns where homes have been destroyed.

The storm received little attention outside the state, but left a trail of devastation through several coastal villages whose populations are mostly Alaskan natives.

The flooding has caused significant damage, tearing buildings from their foundations and floating them away. At least one person has been killed by the storm and two are missing, according to the Associated Press.
