Pueblo’s ‘Little Jewelbox’ Temple Emanuel Celebrates 125 Years

Temple Emanuel, a synagogue in Pueblo, has stood for 125 years as a testament to the resilience of the local Jewish community.

The congregation believes strongly that the temple is not only the synagogue for the Jewish community, but it also belongs to the citizens of Pueblo.

The temple, known as the “Little Jewelbox,” features a stunning Star of David stained glass window and is home to three Torahs, each with its own unique story. The smallest Torah, covered in red velvet, is approximately 300 years old and originated from Romania.

According to the temple’s board president, Micheal Atlas-Acuña, each Torah has a distinct history.
