Fatal Crash in Cocke County
A deadly crash occurred on Rocky Top Road in Cocke County, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP).
The incident happened just before 9 a.m. and involved an articulated dump truck driven by 58-year-old Dennis Sewell of North Carolina.
- The truck was loaded with road mix and was being used to construct a better roadway on Rocky Top Road.
- THP reported that the driver backed over the edge of the roadway, causing the truck to overturn and roll halfway down the mountain.
The Cocke County Sheriff’s Office and several other agencies responded to the crash.
No additional information has been released.
According to Sheriff CJ Ball, the crash required a response from several agencies.
