Poynter Launches Public Editor Project in Indianapolis
Poynter Institute, a nonprofit leader in strengthening ethical journalism, announces a pilot project for a local public editor in Indianapolis.
Partner newsrooms will publish the editor's independent analysis of local news coverage.
- The project aims to test the effectiveness of independent accountability and public education in a local news market.
- The project is led by Kelly McBride, senior vice president and chair of Poynter's Craig Newmark Center for Ethics and Leadership.
- The project has received grant funding from the Lumina Foundation and the Hearst Foundations.
Poynter is currently accepting applications for the Indianapolis Public Editor.
