House Explosion in Hibbing Injures Multiple People
A home in Hibbing was demolished after an explosion on Sunday evening, leaving several people injured.
According to reports from WDIO, the explosion occurred around 6:40 p.m. on the 2200 block of Ninth Avenue East. Neighbors heard the explosion and alerted authorities.
- Several people were injured and taken to Hibbing Hospital for further care.
- The original home was destroyed, and a second residence was extensively damaged.
- The entire 2200 block of Ninth Avenue East was evacuated due to the explosion.
Hibbing Fire Marshal Shawn Nickila reported that seven fire departments responded to the scene, including those from Hibbing, Chisholm, Virginia, and Keewatin.
The cause of the explosion is currently unknown.
The Hibbing police are asking people to stay away from the area.
