WaterNSW Shortlists Dams for Pumped Storage Projects
WaterNSW has shortlisted three dams in New South Wales, Australia, for potential pumped storage projects: Blowering, Burrendong, and Hume dams.
The selection follows pre-feasibility studies assessing 41 dams across the state, considering factors such as terrain, geotechnical conditions, environmental factors, and grid connectivity.
"This announcement is an important milestone in identifying new sites at WaterNSW dams that could host more privately developed long-duration pumped hydro projects to support the State’s renewable energy transition,"
said WaterNSW Head of Major Projects Mark Roberts.
