English DJ and producer Sub Focus joins forces with Canadian electro-pop artist Grimes for their atmospheric new single “Entwined.” The track, released through Casablanca Records, will appear on Sub Focus’s upcoming concept album CONTACT, set for release on November 21.
Grimes’ airy vocals merge with Sub Focus’s intricate basslines and expansive production, exploring themes of science fiction, humanity, and the cosmos. Together, they craft an intense, experimental soundscape that feels as if it warps the space-time continuum.
“I literally could not be more hyped on Sub Focus,” shared Grimes earlier this year on social media. “Dance music has felt bizarrely sterile and increasingly so over time. It has been so long since I’ve felt euphoric about dance music.”
The collaboration encapsulates the strengths of both artists—Sub Focus’s mastery of rhythm and Grimes’s futuristic vocal style—resulting in a track that feels both haunting and energizing. The song perfectly captures the intertwining of their creative visions, making its title especially fitting.
CONTACT marks Sub Focus’s fourth studio album and promises 14 dynamic drum and bass tracks led by vocal performances from Subsonic, Poppy Baskomb, Connie Constance, Emily Makis, and Inez. It will also feature his hit collaboration “Go Back” with John Summit and Julia Church, which has already surpassed 151 million global streams.
This release continues a notably successful year for Sub Focus, confirming his place as a leading innovator in modern electronic music.
The collaboration “Entwined” merges Sub Focus’s rhythmic precision with Grimes’s ethereal vocals, offering a futuristic soundscape that celebrates creativity and emotional depth in electronic music.
