Emmy award-winning Kiwi-Japanese actress Anna Sawai has been cast as Yoko Ono in a new ambitious four-part Beatles biopic scheduled for release in 2028. Sawai, recognized for her role as Lady Mariko in Shōgun, will portray the avant-garde artist and musician who was a key creative partner and wife to John Lennon from 1969 until his death in 1980.
Director Sam Mendes said: "Maureen, Linda, Yoko and Pattie are four fascinating and unique figures in their own right – and I’m thrilled that we’ve managed to persuade four of the most talented women working in film today to join this amazing adventure."
