Surrey County Council Develops Innovative EHCP Apprenticeship
Surrey County Council has created the UK's first nationally recognized apprenticeship for staff working with the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process.
This pioneering program aims to professionalize and strengthen the role of EHCP coordinators across England, in response to the growing number of children and young people requiring specialist support.
- Launched on 1 November with a pilot cohort of 30 Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) professionals.
- Designed to meet the needs of all councils in England.
The apprenticeship targets staff working with the EHCP process, providing them with the necessary skills and knowledge to support children and young people with SEND.
