After nearly six decades of serving as a home for Wesleyan scientists, the Hall-Atwater Laboratory is scheduled for complete demolition in 2027.
Hall-Atwater has become the least energy-efficient building on campus, with its design and technologies needing an update since 2009.
Hall-Atwater has far exceeded its service life
According to Associate Vice President of Facilities Alan Rubacha, the building's systems, including mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and electrical, all need replacement. The building's energy use intensity (EUI) is 270, compared to the new science building's EUI of 84.
