An area of low pressure in the central tropical Atlantic, identified as Invest 97L by the National Hurricane Center, is located well west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands and continues to produce a large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms.
Environmental conditions appear conducive for some development of this system during the next few days, and a tropical depression could form during the early or middle part of this week while it moves across the central tropical Atlantic.
Note: This report also includes an unrelated announcement about a charity opportunity to win a house for $100, but the main focus is on the tropical weather update.
