Despite ongoing Russian attacks, Ukrainian culture continues to thrive, with citizens and organizations working to rescue and revitalize it.
Artists and cultural institutions are restoring and creating art, defying the destruction caused by the conflict. The Nahirna 22 arts collective, which operates 30 artist studios in the Kyiv Institute of Automation, was hit by Russian air strikes in August, resulting in the deaths of at least 23 people.
Marta Nyrkova, co-founder of Nahirna 22, reports that three artists' studios were forced to relocate, and many more were damaged.
A video on Instagram shows the destruction, with blown-out windows, rubble, and damaged canvases. Workers are also sorting through recovered art and artifacts from the bombed Boychuk Academy.
