SDSU men’s soccer loses chance at back-to-back WAC title

SDSU Men's Soccer Loses Chance at Back-to-Back WAC Title

The San Diego State men's soccer team (7-8-2, 3-2-2 Western Athletic Conference) lost to California Baptist (9-3-3, 4-2-1 WAC) with a score of 2-1.

"All credit to Cal Baptist, fantastic team and worthy champion," head coach Ryan Hopkins said. "They never gave up and made it really hard on us all night."

The game was crucial for the Aztecs, who needed a win or a tie to clinch the WAC regular-season title. However, a late goal in the 89-minute mark ended those hopes.

"We were expecting a win, to win the regular conference championship again," senior forward Rommee Jaridly said. "It's frustrating, but it's not the end of the road."
