Valentin Vacherot made history by winning his first ATP title at the Shanghai Masters, defeating his cousin Arthur Rinderknech.
Vacherot, who entered the tournament as an alternate player, secured a spot in the main draw for the first time in his career and went on to win the Masters 1000 event.
He became the fifth man in history to win his first ATP title in a Masters 1000 level, following in the footsteps of Jakub Mensik, who won the Miami Open earlier this year.
Notably, Vacherot beat Novak Djokovic, the 24-time Grand Slam champion, in the semifinals, who was the fifth-seeded player he defeated en route to his successful run.
His 'Sick Run' comment went viral after the win.
