According to the Federal Aviation Administration, departures to Sky Harbor had an average delay of 78 minutes because of the storms, expected to last until around 2 p.m.
- The flight-tracking website FlightAware showed over 175 flights delayed as of 8:45 a.m.
- A ground stop was in place at Phoenix Sky Harbor until 9 a.m.
- Stopped flights were from cities including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver, St. Louis, Houston, and parts of New Mexico.
The airport had received significant rainfall, with the National Weather Service in Phoenix using it for the city’s official readings.
