Larry Bushart Jr., 61, was released from the Perry County jail in Linden, Tennessee, after spending more than a month in jail.
Bushart was arrested for sharing a meme on Facebook that was deemed a threat of mass violence against a school in a neighboring county.
“Thanks to all and any supporters out there,” Bushart said. “And very happy to be going home.”
His case raised controversy due to the $2 million bail and the nature of the supposed crime, which was a social media post.
Bushart expressed his relief to be going home, wearing the same white T-shirt he had on the night he was jailed.
