Philip Pullman has dominated the charts and podcast episodes, including the Waterstones and Ask Penguin shows.
He discussed The Rose Field on the Waterstones podcast, concluding the story of Lyra Belacqua, which began decades ago in Northern Lights.
It’s been a very long project, almost half my life I suppose. So naturally I feel relieved to have got to the end and people seem to like it so far, so that’s good as well. I also feel free – a burden has been put down now in the right place. Now I’m free to do something else.
When asked about his identity as a writer, Pullman said:
I became a storyteller by accident. I always wanted to write… but I found myself teaching because no one pays you any money for your first book or two.
