According to the department, the officers responded to a call involving a woman in crisis and took the time to listen, recognizing the humanity of the situation. They spent 30 minutes with the woman, helping her process her thoughts and guiding her towards a place of calm and clarity.
The woman later sent a heartfelt letter to Metro Police expressing her gratitude, highlighting the role of law enforcement officers as caregivers, mentors, and social workers in critical moments.
The award recognizes the officers' outstanding response and serves as a reminder of the importance of empathy and compassion in law enforcement.
