Halloween Safety Initiative
Halloween is considered the deadliest day for pedestrians under 18, prompting New York State to increase patrols against impaired, distracted, and reckless driving.
According to the Governor's Office, there will be a noticeable presence of state and local law enforcement on roads to protect trick-or-treaters and drivers.
Governor Hochul urged New Yorkers to "stay vigilant" and not drive impaired.
The initiative, which started on October 25th, will run through October 31st, with increased state police and local law enforcement visible on roadways to combat impaired and reckless driving.
