The Jacksonville State University board of trustees has approved a new paid parental leave policy for employees.
The policy grants 8 weeks of paid leave for mothers following birth and 4 weeks for fathers. It also applies to parents welcoming a new child through adoption, surrogacy, or foster care, according to University Counsel Emily Davey.
“We were very calculated to make sure we had a day in the sand when this was going to go into effect,”
said Emily Davey to the trustees.
