Drone Video Shows Progress on Twin-Track Upgrade to Cork Commuter Line
Part of a €1bn investment in Irish rail travel, the twin-track upgrade of Cork's busiest commuter rail line is underway.
The first stretch of a brand new track between Glounthaune and Midleton has been completed, with Iarn!ód Éireann crews repositioning the original track to make space for the new second line.
- Additional signalling, telecommunications and commissioning works will follow.
- Improvement works are also being carried out on the Cobh and Mallow lines.
Drone footage captured by DroneHawk shows the progress on the twin Cork line.
As part of the upgrade, more commuter services will be introduced once the twin tracks are in place.
