The United States Is Broke. Americans May Not Care - But the World Does - The Heartland Institute

The United States' Debt Crisis

The United States is facing a severe debt crisis, with both Republicans and Democrats proposing excessive spending.

A high school history teacher once asked students to identify the largest problem facing the US. One student, from the class of 1989, answered that it was the federal government's debt, a response that was met with eye-rolling from the teacher.

The debt not just because I think debt of any kind is bad. I said it because everyone in Washington, DC was pretending the deficit spending adding to the debt wasn’t a problem.

Ignoring the problem has led to it becoming orders-of-magnitude worse. The world is aware of this issue, even if many Americans are not.

Author's summary: US debt crisis worsens due to neglect.
