Maharashtra Finalises Policy to Promote Artificial Sand
The Maharashtra government has finalised a policy to promote the use of artificial sand in construction activities.
Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule announced that an official order has been issued to implement the policy.
The government has delegated powers to approve the artificial sand, or M-Sand (manufactured sand), units to district collectors.
- District collectors can now sanction up to 100 M-Sand units, increased from the earlier cap of 50.
- Information on suitable land for M-Sand units will be compiled and made available on the ‘Mahakhanij’ portal for auction.
