Rescue centres 'full' of animals given up because of landlord bans on pets

Rescue Centres Overwhelmed with Animals Given Up Due to Landlord Pet Bans

Rescue centres in Ireland are facing a crisis as they are "full" of animals surrendered by owners who are banned from keeping pets by their landlords.

"It's terrible, it's really terrible," said Martina Kenny, founder of My Lovely Horse rescue centre. "A pet can be a really huge part of your family; it can help mental health, the children can be in bits without it."

The housing crisis in Ireland has led to a severe shortage of rental accommodation, forcing people to move into homes where pets are not allowed, including properties managed by Approved Housing Bodies (AHBs).
