Two sauna enthusiasts share their passion for saunas and what makes them special.
Nea Mänty, a 24-year-old student, talks about her family's cottage sauna on Lake Myllylampi, Vihti. She says,
“At the cottage we use the sauna every day. It’s an essential part of our family’s cottage life.”
Nea prefers wood-heated saunas, noting that
“nothing beats wood-heated ones like this. When you light the fire and feed it yourself, you feel a different kind of ownership for löyly (sauna steam).”
She also enjoys sauna rituals with her best friend and uses sauna scents, especially during winter.
In the city, Nea tries to visit a sauna at least once a week, preferring wood-heated ones over electric saunas.
Author's summary: Finns love saunas for their unique experience.
