Frogs Contribute to Fred Hutch Science
Frogs have made significant contributions to Fred Hutch science as a model organism that shares much of human biology.
After a two-decade absence, Yasuhiro Arimura has reintroduced them for a new era of science.
In summer 2024, 30 live African clawed frogs arrived at Fred Hutch Cancer Center and were transferred into water tanks in the new frog room.
The amphibians were delivered to the new frog room in the Basic Sciences Division and transferred into long white-framed water tanks stacked on blue racks like bunk beds.
The frogs settled into their new homes, hiding in plastic tubes or floating among lily pads.
