30 journalists embody struggle for freely reported environmental coverage

Journalists' Struggle for Environmental Coverage

Thirty journalists embody the struggle for freely reported environmental coverage, facing obstruction, threats, arrest, and violence while covering stories related to natural resources.

Reporters Without Borders (RSF) highlights 30 cases of persecuted journalists who covered environmental issues in the past year, from Cambodia to the Amazon, and from France to Egypt.

Our goal: to leave no breach of freedom of information unreported.

As COP30 begins on November 10 in Belém, Brazil, RSF calls on governments to ensure the defense of reliable reporting and its actors is a key component of the fight against climate change.

Author's summary: Journalists face persecution while covering environmental issues worldwide.
