The song "Fly Me to the Moon", originally titled "In Other Words", was written in 1954 by Bart Howard. The lyrics include:
Fly me to the moon, Let me play among the stars, Let me see what spring is like on Jupiter and Mars. In other words, baby, kiss me…
At the time, flying to the moon was not yet possible, and Howard's publisher asked him to simplify his lyrics. Despite the silly nature of some of the lyrics, the song's message of love and affection is real.
It wasn't until 15 years after the song was written that humans actually flew to the moon during the Apollo space program.
