Newsom Vs. Trump 2028: California Governor Considers White House Bid
California Governor Gavin Newsom has been hinting at a presidential run for months, and he recently made his intentions a bit more official.
“Yeah, I’d be lying otherwise,”
Newsom told CBS Sunday Morning’s Robert Costa, admitting he is giving “serious thought” to a White House bid. He added,
“I’d just be lying, and I’m not — I can’t do that,”and stated that
“Fate will determine that,”regarding whether 2028 would be his shot at the presidency.
Newsom has been testing the waters in Red States and taking swings at Donald Trump, but he noted that he won’t make up his mind about 2028 until the 2026 midterms are over.
