Early Line Honours Results in the 2025 PIC Coastal Classic

The 2025 PIC Coastal Classic, New Zealand's premier yacht race, has seen its leading yachts cross the finish line in Russell, with Lucky taking the lead.

The race, organised by the New Zealand Multihull Yacht Club (NZMYC), is a 119 nautical mile test of skill and patience, with crews navigating calm patches, shifting winds, and long hours overnight.

The race began on Friday morning with clear skies and a gentle south-westerly breeze of about eight knots. Lucky, a 27 metre Juan Kouyoumdjian designed maxi owned and skippered by Bryon Ehrhart, quickly took the lead, sailing off Kawau Island at around 10 knots and establishing a comfortable lead off Bream Head by nightfall.

Lucky leads the fleet into Russell.

The majority of the fleet continues to make its way up the Northland coast in light and variable conditions.
