Early voting for New York's next mayor starts on Saturday, with Zohran Mamdani, a self-described socialist, as the favorite to win.
Mamdani, a 34-year-old state lawmaker, has been gaining support, particularly among young New Yorkers, and has surged to the front of the campaign.
According to the latest citywide poll, conducted by Victory Insights, Mamdani has 47 percent support and leads by 18 points.
Early voting will continue until November 2, with Election Day on November 4, and the winner will take office in the New Year.
