According to former Australian police detective Duncan McNab, Erin Patterson never expected anyone to survive her deadly Beef Wellington lunch.
"I've met some killers in my time, and some of them just view other people as an inconvenience, a trouble to be removed."
McNab stated that Patterson had planned the case in detail but did not plan on being caught, and
"I don't think she assumed that Ian Wilkinson would survive."
Erin Patterson's conviction for poisoning three extended family members with a beef wellington spiked with death-cap mushrooms is one of the most notable criminal trials in recent history.
