East Union Secures First Valley Oak League Title
East Union claimed its first Valley Oak League (VOL) title with a 13-0 win over Manteca, securing the outright championship with one game left in the regular season.
"We started the season with the motto, 'unfinished business,'" said East Union coach Steve Jackson. "We came so close last year, then we lost a lot of personnel. We have a lot of young girls and a real tough schedule. We took some lumps early, but the girls stepped up and are playing really well right now."
Julianna Gaspar was instrumental in the win, showcasing her quick decision making and scrambling ability. The Lancers will face Manteca again next Tuesday at Dino Cunial Stadium.
