Third Severe Mpox Case Reported
LA County is investigating a possible local spread of mpox, with the latest case being reported in an adult who was hospitalized and is now recovering at home.
The two previous cases were reported by L.A County and Long Beach, with officials stating that there is currently no link between the cases.
Investigation Details
- The county is partnering with the California Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to investigate.
- Surveillance and contact tracing are underway to find any additional cases and determine the possible source.
The local cases of clade I mpox are significant and warrant further investigation.
