Orlando District 5 Race: Fundraising Updates
Shan Rose is leading Regina Hill in fundraising for the Orlando District 5 race, while Lawanna Gelzer has entered the race with significant self-funding.
Rose has dominated fundraising, collecting nearly $22,000 from July 1 to October. In contrast, Hill raised about $4,000 and loaned her campaign an additional $3,000 during the same period.
Gelzer, a community advocate, entered the race late and has largely self-funded her campaign. She has given her campaign personal loans of $20,000 and $5,000, and also raised nearly $6,000 in donations.
The race features plenty of attention-grabbing headlines, following Hill's arrest and pending trial.
The election is scheduled for November, with Hill's trial not expected to take place before then. Hill was the District 5 Commissioner until her suspension from office.
