Walmart is investing in San Diego-based Wiliot to deploy smart sensors in its massive supply chain, utilizing Internet-of-Things (IoT) technology that has been around for two decades.
The deal, announced earlier this month, is the largest deployment of ambient IoT in the retail sector, with millions of battery-free IoT sensors to be used.
Wiliot's ambient IoT is powered by harvesting ambient energy from radio waves, light, motion, heat or other viable energy sources.
