Funeral Service for Ambassador Nathi Mthethwa
The funeral service of South Africa’s Ambassador to France, Nathi Mthethwa, is underway at the Siyabonga Sangweni Sports Complex in KwaMbonambi.
Thousands have gathered to pay their respects and celebrate Mthethwa's life and legacy, with the stadium packed with members of the public, colleagues, politicians, and relatives.
Speakers at the service reflected on Mthethwa’s dedication to public service, his role in uniting people, and his contributions abroad.
Gloria Serobe praised his widow Philisiwe Buthelezi for suspending her career to support him, describing the two years they spent in France as “two years of bliss”.
