Mayo Charity Secures Derelict Houses

A registered charity in Mayo has secured three derelict houses.

The houses were part of six vacant properties that were acquired by Mayo County Council during the construction of the Turlough to Westport dual carriageway in 2016/17.

The name of the charity was not released until the deal is completely finalised.

CEO of Mayo County Council, Kevin Kelly, confirmed the news at a recent council meeting, which was welcomed by all councillors.

However, CEO Kevin Kelly explained that Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) sold the homes to Mayo County Council under strict criteria.

It is expected that the remaining properties will be addressed in the future.

Author's summary: A Mayo charity acquires derelict houses.
